The Doo, My Old Band

A friend of mine from the old days posted a video of my band from 1981 on Facebook. Steve Dirkx played with The Telefones, a legendary Dallas band from the same period, and used to film other bands with his 8mm hand-held camera, without sound. He then added another recording of one of our songs to this film, which is why the actions don't always match the sound. I'm singing through one of the guitar solos, for instance.

It brings back lots of good memories, thought some of you might enjoy it. I happy to say this is a song I wrote, though most of our songs were written by my best friend and guitarist, Mark Veale. He's the one on the video drinking the beer during the show. Others:
Lead guitar: Craig Means
Bass: Colin Marsh
Drums: Myron Blakely

Rock n' Roll...

Privacy settings in Facebook prevent everyone from seeing the video.

Thanks for that tip, I wondered about it. I'll contact my friend and see if I can post a different link.

WOW! I hesitate to compare you to Dick Clark since he's such an ass and your not, but you do both have that sneaky way of not aging like the rest of us poor humans. Well, I guess he did finally exhaust that ability, actually.

I'm so excited to be 'going with' the hot singer of a rock band! You're dreamy, Mr. Piraro....

That's great, Dan -- thanks for letting us know about the video. Very "Jam"-esque -- my favorite band of that time period (along with Stiff Little Fingers).

@patrick...
I loved The Jam, too. Saw them live in London in 1979.

@doug nicodemus...
Absolutely me, but it is hard for me to believe, too.

Thanks for posting this footage - that's my brother Myron on the drums. I grew up hearing him practice in his room, but never heard him with a band. Let's just say hearing drums played solo (unless you include the house rattling as accompaniment) is not exactly enjoyable. But this song sure was enjoyable to hear.
