Bizarro is brought to you today by Crappy Internet.
I've been without Internet and Cable TV for two days, living in the dark ages like Attila the Hun. I sat in damp darkness eating bugs, totally out of touch with the world, no way to find out what's going on, no way to find out what "Weeds'" Nancy Botwin's latest kerfuffle was, and worst of all, kept away from YOU, by beloved blog friends.
I'm back now and can't believe all I've missed. Republicans have aired a TV commercial linking Sotomayor with Puerto Rican terrorists and infamous unrepentant domestic terrorist, William Ayers. WHAT?!!
Okay, that was about all I missed, I think. I'm back now, until the tiny plastic box bulging with wires and rubber bands and globs of hot glue that services my entire neighborhood in Brooklyn with cable and Internet is bumped by a squirrel again. Keep your cyber-fingers crossed.

I've already blogged about evil squirrels:

What do I care... we are a autocratic nation masquerading as a democratic society. Hopefully I will earn enough to be heard one day.
Sotomayor might be a steaming prat- but at least some very articulate and thoughtful people get to voice their opinions on air. Up here in Canukistan, they get appointed by whoever holds the fort, and nobody gets to question those decisions.
One question: Does this steaming prat get to wear an ermine robe and a powdered wig?
This comment is about the comic of the bunny costume for today 7/16/09. I work with blind people who have seeing eye dogs, we have Braille teachers, and I collect bunnies. we had a great laugh at the office!! Thanks.
=v= It used to that California anti-immigrant wingnuts would run around parading their profound ignorance by claming that La Raza means "the race" and that anyone involved with it is therefore racist. Now that a Puerto Rican woman is being considered for the Supreme Court, this idiocy has made national mainstream news. Dunno how they managed to work Ayers into that, though.
(For those who dont know what the phrase means, it comes from La Raza Cósmica, meaning the entire cosmos of people -- from all the races of humanity. In other words, inherently not a race.
that is a pretty funny bit but did marilyn manson sue you over this one?
for that matter does anybody ever sue you...i don't mean your ex-wives..
@Anonymous...
That is perhaps the strangest coincidence I've ever heard of from a reader. Thanks for sharing!:)
@doug nicodemus...
No one has ever sued me because I know the legal limits of my job. So I'm careful not to do anything that is not well within common boundaries of satire. Also, King Features has a squadron of lawyers who review things that might be "iffy."
After reading this, just happened to run across a list of 'bad boy' baby names:
"Writing in Social Science Quarterly, Shippensburg University professor David Kalist says giving newborn males oddball, girly or strange first names may just help land them in jail.
"In alphabetical order, the Top 10 'bad boy' names, according to Kalist, are Alec, Ernest, Garland, Ivan, Kareem, Luke, Malcolm, Preston, Tyrell and Walter."

I'll give him Ivan (the Terrible and Boesky); Malcolm (as in billionire Forbes and the kid in the Middle); and I couldn't think of any Garland's or Tyrell's, but what about 'Alec' as in Guinness and Baldwin? 'Ernest' as in Hemingway and the Importance of Being? 'Preston' as in Sturges and Foster? 'Kareem' as in Abdul-Jabbar? 'Luke' as in Skywalker? 'Walter' as in the recently-deceased Cronkite?
I'm surprised neither Manson nor Hitler made the list. I did know an old cranky neighbor named 'Adolph' when I was a boy, but even he went by his middle name: Leslie.
