Baby Bear
(To experience the bear at actual size, click his nose.)
Bizarro would like to wish you a Happy Easter, unless you're against Easter and resent being wished a happy of it. In that case, I wish you a happy, albeit insignificant, day.
Since Easter is full of fairy tale contradictions that don't make any sense together, like a magician who comes back from the dead and a giant bunny hiding decorated chicken eggs, this seems as good a cartoon as any to post today. I like this gag quite a bit, if I may be so immodest. It started with the idea of Goldilocks in her old age, then a reunion with the three bears, which turned into this chance meeting near a dumpster with Baby Bear. It has a certain sense of reality to it that amuses me.
I'm not sure if I've plugged Awkward Family Photos before, but I get a lot of my hotlinks from there and it's one of my favorite sites on the Internet. There are some good Easter pics on there today and they have a new book out, which I highly recommend.
Magician who comes back from the dead? One of our nation's best features is its Constitutional emphasis on religious tolerance. Wouldn't mind a bit of it here. Of course, you are free to say what you like, but there is no reason to be deliberately offensive, is there?
ReplyDeleteI love this maybe more than any other drawing you've ever done. It just pleases me on every possible level.
ReplyDeleteBWHAHAHAHA! Goldilocks now lives in Utah!!!! HAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I find the idea of a store named Pixie's Pickle Palace utterly absurd and offensive. Please remove in all future printings.
@thomas4143...In my opinion there is a difference between "tolerance" and "respect." I am tolerant of people's religious beliefs (as long as they don't creep into politics, which they so often do) but I think kidding about them is more in the realm of "respect." I respect people, but not their beliefs. I'm guessing most Christians don't have respect for the beliefs of Scientologists, for instance, and as a society we make jokes about them all the time. No intention to offend, my apologies.
ReplyDeleteFunny you say that. I had a pretty deep argument with my wife last week after buying this t-shirt:

She maintains that if people we're just nicer to each other and respected their choice of religion, the world would be a better place.
While I think it looks great on paper, I don't think history shows us when people didn't point out the inherent hilarity and flaws in religion, that there were more rainbows and less violence. In fact, I think it was a pretty dark time where many people were hurt.
